"Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art."

- Charlie "YardBird" Parker

Sully Erna, the singer for mainstream metal band Godsmack, is being sued by a Chelmsford, Massachusetts women and her parents because of injuries the woman sustained when Erna crashed into the back of her car in April 2007 in Methuen Massachusetts, reported the North Andover Eagle Tribune.

The auto negligence lawsuit claims Erna’s careless driving caused him to plow into the back of a car, resulting in “a severe traumatic brain injury” to 26-year-old Lindsay Taylor, who was riding in the back seat of a car driven by Eric Sargent.

According to Erna, the collision wasn’t his fault and that Sargent’s car rear-ended a vehicle driven by a woman named Maureen White before Erna’s Hummer H3 slammed into the back of Sargent’s vehicle.

Taylor was hospitalized in a coma and, according to her lawyer interviewed in the story, “She’s not doing well [and] probably will never fully recover.”

Erna, Sargent and White were not injured in the crash, and Erna has filed a third-party complaint against Sargent, who he claims is largely or completely responsible for Taylor’s injuries.

Both state and local police arrived at the crash scene. Methuen police Captains Randy Hagger and Kristopher McCarthy will give depositions on January 7, says the Eagle Tribune story.
